98% of the year, we love savoring exquisite, hand-rolled sushi and delicately-crafted cocktails, but there’s a time and a place for cuisine to be pristine. And there’s a time and a place for cuisine to be enormous, deep-fried, and wrapped in bacon. The San Diego County Fair is that time and place! For just a few weeks a year, we can indulge our craving for candy bars, birthday cake, entire turkeys, and even avocados to be lovingly slathered in batter and fried in enormous barrels of sizzling oil, then wrapped in the most American of cured meats. The avocados are green and they came from a tree, so they’re healthy.
