“I love people and I love music. This lets me work with both.” Tim Altbaum answers when asked how he started out being a DJ. Glancing through his website, you can’t help but notice that people love him, too. Countless recommendations from past clients prove his professionalism and love for what he does. Tim founded Tim Altbaum, Professional DJ in 1998 and has been a favorite
Tim describes his style as a cross between club and wedding DJ. “My favorite part of the job is bringing traditional songs and beatmixing – from AC/DC to Aretha Franklin. It makes my job fun to be able to translate peoples’ tastes into a party.” In order to figure out what type of “party” each couple wants Tim schedules various get-togethers with them to build a closer relationship. This also helps him figure out more details about the musical groups and genres they like. “I don’t book clients that know every single song they want.” Tim prefers getting to know the couple and having the opportunity to blend songs. His re-mixes are well-loved and get people from to 90 years old on the dance floor.
This blending of traditional and modern, unique and mainstream, is what allows Tim to give a fresh perspective to wedding music and DJ’s. Tim’s personality proves a young, cutting-edge, fun vibe. His primary goal as a DJ is to be friendship-based. Getting to know his couples is one of the most important parts of each wedding, as it gives him an insight into their personalities, lives, and music taste.
With almost a decade in the wedding industry, Tim Altbaum, Professional DJ provides more than simply music for your event, he is also an officiant. When asked how he got into officiating weddings, he mentioned a couple he was working with whose officiant did not show up on their wedding day. Tim stepped up to the task and added officiating to his list of qualifications shortly thereafter. “I try to know my clients so well that I feel I could actually perform their wedding.”
Tim’s care and commitment to his profession, as well as the couples he works with, is evident from the first time you meet him. “The best thing is when a bride and groom come up to me and say they are having fun. It’s not my wedding, it’s yours. It’s all about you – my demeanor needs to match that.”
“Our personnel go above and beyond to make your event the best it can be.”
“Tim has a way of playing really unique music on the wedding day that is catered to his couple’s personality almost to a t. It’s amazing how much of a repoire he develops with his clients, and how well he gets to know their musical preferences.” Jared Bauman, Bauman Photographers
