Marilyn and Josh – September 26, 2009 – Destination Wedding Photography, Monterey, California

Destination Wedding Photography – my favorite! Seriously, as an artist, it is so inspiring to go to a totally different and unique area to create 🙂 New angles, different light, cool backdrops – there isn’t much better for a wedding photographer!
It was one of those crazy weekends for us at Bauman Photographers. Jacob and I headed up to Monterey, California, while Bronson headed out to New Orleans, Louisiana.
Marilyn and Josh are actually from Fresno, CA, but wanted to create a wedding that was memorable for the guests and family. The ventured a few hours west and chose the always gorgeous Monterey, CA for their destination wedding.
I know its been said before, but it was a picture perfect day. When I arrived in Monterey on Thursday evening, it was cold and rainy. By Saturday, it was sunny and warm. Marilyn and Josh got married at a park overlooking the ocean, and then we went up the coast to Seaside for their reception. Afterwards, Jacob and I went all over Monterey with the two of them at twilight.
Some of my favorite images are below, set up against an old green train we found. Marilyn looks amazing hanging off of the bright textures of the train. It was so fun to shoot in Monterey, because of the contrast of backgrounds and scenes. You go from these incredible vista shots over the ocean to old metal buildings on Cannery Row. In the end, we got some amazing images!
