This one is pretty special. Art Alive had its 30th anniversary and it was my third time photographing it. The event is by far one of the most visually fascinating annual events in San Diego; from the enormous floral showcase in the rotunda, to the elaborate opening night party, all of the beautiful arrangements, beautiful people, and fun lighting, all of it is spectacular! For those who aren’t familiar, the premise of the event is for local floral designers, garden club members and the like to showcase their talents by creating floral arrangements based on pieces of art housed within the San Diego Museum of Art.
The whole event starts with a bang – the opening celebration is one of the most fun events in San Diego with amazing food, a great silent auction, dancing, music, drinks and an opportunity to tour the gorgeously decorated museum. Then, the next night is a special edition of culture and cocktails. I also was there to photograph an event called the “Bouquet Bash” where three floral designers have an iron chef style bouquet making competition (and centerpieces) complete with models and beautiful wedding gowns!
Lastly, there is a day dedicated to the children; The kids love the crafts and a book-reading area at the garden of activities 🙂
