Creative Headshot Photography for a Fresh Start
When Dr. Amanda Cachia chose to leave San Diego State University to teach at the University of Houston’s Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts, she knew that she needed the perfect headshot to give off the right image to her incoming students. That’s why when she reached out to Bauman Photographers for creative headshot photography that gave off a warm and welcoming image, we were excited to come up with a session that would have her walk away happy and ready to begin her new career in Houston.
Creating And Actualizing Amanda’s Vision For Her Headshot
We first began to brainstorm alongside Amanda to come up with a session that would meet what she wanted. Dr. Cachia wanted bright, colorful images– and what a better place to do bright, colorful creative headshot photography than the Museum of Contemporary Art? The Museum of Contemporary Art provided us bright, colorful backdrops, and sculptures that offered fun opportunities to take more artistic headshots than in our studio, or walking around a college campus, while the outdoor area would provide a soft, natural light that would provide a more casual look.
With the location, time, and date planned, all that was left for us to meet up with Amanda and take her perfect headshot! Throughout the session, we worked alongside Amanda to have her pose and try different looks to make sure we could fine tune our creative headshot photography. Making sure to stop during the session to show her the images, we were able to make small adjustments to assure she was getting headshots that she loved and felt good in, and that gave off the warm, welcoming look that she wanted.
After the session as Dr. Cachia made her selections, we did our basic retouching to make sure that she looked her best; by removing any flyaways from the wind blowing, smoothing basic wrinkles in her clothing, and more, we made sure that Amanda looked her best for her first impression to her future students & colleagues.

Used both in the email introducing her to her students, alumni, and faculty, as well as on her website, Amanda walked away happy and with creative headshot photography that reflected her kind & welcoming personality.
