Today, the Bauman Photography Studio received a very welcome visit!
Lisa and James (Or Skrizzy and JJ as we like to call them) came by to pick up their proof album. And you know what Skrizzy did? She sang Jingle Bells to me! Back before Christmas, I posted a blog that offered a free 4×6 to anyone that came caroling to the studio. Even though this is past the deadline, I will cut them some slack since they live out of town. ; ) It was really fun hanging out with them today.
Even though I don’t often talk to most of you in person, I feel like I get to know you pretty well from the amazing photos that Jared and Bronson bring back from your weddings! So, I love it when I actually get to have a conversation with you all. And you can visit anytime! Especially since the studio looks so great now.
It was great seeing you two today!!!
There is something else I wanted to talk about today. I have been listening to my old “Five Iron Frenzy” CD and have been reminded of a song that touches my heart every time I listen to it. Here are the lyrics to the first verse and chorus:
In a field of yellow flowers underneath the sun
Bluest eyes that spark with lightning
Boy with shoes undone
He is young so full of hope
Reveling in tiny dreams
filling up his arms with flowers, right for giving any queen.
Running to her, beaming bright, while cradeling his prize
a flickering of yellow light within his mother’s eyes
She holds them to her heart
keeping them where they’ll be safe
clutched within her very marrow
Dandelions in a vase
She sees love where anyone else would see weeds
All hope is found, here is everything he needs.
_______
And isn’t that just like God? He will take whatever we can give. Even if all we add up to is something measley, even if all we can muster up is a bouquet of freshly cut weeds, his eyes see love. Because, the truth is, in light of all he has done and is doing for us, anything we offer him is so insignificant. But, in Mark chapter 12, when Jesus sees the woman put 2 copper coins into the offering plate, he says this, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Even the insignificant copper coins meant more than the riches of the wealthy people there.
God knows when I am giving out of obligation and when I am giving out of devotion.
Also, I want to see with eyes like he does. I want to be the mother that delights in her son! I want to delight in my friends, in my life, and in the Lord.
